Wolverhampton Wanderers star Adama Traore has claimed that Marcus Rashford was the only difference between the two teams following Manchester United’s 1-0 victory on New Year’s Eve.
United started the first half well with Alejandro Garnacho having arguably the best chance to break the deadlock. At half time, Erik ten Hag opted to bring Rashford off the bench after he was dropped due to oversleeping.
With just less than 15 minutes remaining, Rashfordmade the difference for the Reds. Jinxing through the Wolves defence, the Englishman showed great composure to slot the ball past Jose Sa.
Speaking to Wolves’ website, the Spaniard expressed his disappointment at the defeat. He said: “We played a good game but obviously we’re not happy because we lost.
“We had some chances and I also feel the team played very well and played to the plan of the coach. But in the end, it’s details which have been the difference of the game.
He’s [Rashford] a good player, but we know they have many good players in the United team, but today, that goal was the difference, so we have to keep working and keep believing. We believe in the coach, we believe in the plan and the only difference was Rashford’s goal, but today we had a chance to win.”
United will return to Premier League action on Tuesday night when they welcome AFC Bournemouth to Old Trafford. Following the visit of the Cherries, attention turns to the domestic cups with the Reds hosting Everton and Charlton Athletic in the FA and Carabao Cups respectively.
