Rangnick was the interim manager at Old Trafford last season following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s departure in November.
His time at the club proved to be an unsuccessful one, with his credentials questioned from day one in the job and the season ultimately petering out as several big players failed to perform.
The German coach had issues convincing the big stars in Manchester United’s squad to perform or adapt to his tactics, something that was clearly seen with Ronaldo.
The Portuguese forward managed 12 goals and one assists in 22 games under Rangnick but was left unimpressed by him, insisting he had never heard of the manager in scathing comments made during his controversial interview with Piers Morgan.
It seems those comments haven’t affected the current Austria coach, though, who insisted it has nothing to do with him when questioned on the matter during a press conference today.
“I’m the team boss of Austria’s national team, it’s not my job to judge that. (It’s) the job of Manchester United and the sports journalists,” Kronen Zeitung report him saying.
