Real Madrid stance on making Cristiano Ronaldo transfer U-turn after Benzema injury update

Real Madrid reportedly have no intentions of U-turning on their decision to rule out a move for Cristiano Ronaldo as they are hoping Karim Benzema will be able to return to action before the end of the year. Ronaldo is currently without a club after leaving Manchester United earlier this week

Ronaldo, who spent nine years at the Bernabeu Stadium between 2009 and 2018, suffered a miserable second spell at Old Trafford after re-signing for the club last summer. Despite bagging an impressive 24 goals in all competitions last season, the 37-year-old came in for heavy criticism as United failed to deliver on the pitch under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his interim successor Ralf Rangnick.

And Ronaldo’s Red Devils career went from bad to worse this season after falling out of favourite under Erik ten Hag and starting just four times in the Premier League. And after the blockbuster star told Piers Morgan he felt “betrayed” by the club during an explosive interview ahead of the World Cup, United moved to bring his time in the north west to an end.

Ronaldo has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, Newcastle and Real Madrid as he searches for a new club. But, according to Spanish publication AS, a move to the Bernabeu is not on the cards as Benzema has already made a good recovery in the Real gym after injuring himself with France ahead of the World Cup and being forced to miss the tournament.
