Former midfielder Paul Scholes praised Manchester United duo Marcus Rashford and Antony during the Reds’ narrow 3-2 defeat by Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
United conceded late on for the second game running to be denied a respectable point at the home of the league leaders. Eddie Nketiah netted a 90th-minute winner to restore Arsenal’s lead after Lisandro Martinez’s earlier equaliser.
Although it was a disappointing conclusion to the game for United, there were still positive aspects for Ten Hag to take from the performance, not least Rashford’s ninth goal in his last nine games. He has been in sensational form since the World Cup pause and Scholes praised both players when speaking at half-time.
“He (Rashford) is a man with great confidence and he is going into every game thinking he is going to score a goal,” Scholes told Premier League Productions. “I said before the game that United needed to stop Arsenal playing because they will always create chances.
