Paul Scholes has praised Casemiro and Christian Eriksen for making a ‘huge difference’ at Manchester United since their respective summer arrivals at Old Trafford.
The midfield duo both started in the 1-0 Premier League victory over Wolves on New Year’s Eve, with Marcus Rashford coming off the bench to score the winner for the Reds. The England international was dropped from the starting line-up by Erik ten Hagbecause he overslept and missed a team meeting.
Ten Hag confirmed ahead of the game that Rashford had lost his place in the side because of an ‘internal disciplinary’ issue involving the forward, but the 25-year-old proved to be the saviour as United recorded their fifth victory in a row.
While it was Rashford who received the majority of the plaudits, United legend Scholes was keen to praise Casemiro and Eriksen for the impact that they have made since joining the club in the summer. However, he also insisted that the Reds need to strengthen in the attacking areas if they are to compete with the likes of Manchester City.
“I think they look an exciting team again. The best teams have the best forwards, at the moment they don’t have the best forwards, they’ve got very good forwards but I keep going back to the bench, they haven’t got those players who change a game, the football’s been good to watch,” Scholes said on BT Sport.
