Manchester United told why Sir Jim Ratcliffe will avoid making worst mistake made by the Glazers

On Tuesday, Manchester United fans heard the news that many of them had been hoping for.

After initially declaring that he would not be looking to purchase the Reds because the Glazers ‘did not want to sell’, Sir Jim Ratcliffe told The Times that he was thoroughly in the conversation to buy the club. A spokesperson for the billionaire said: “We have formally put ourselves into the process.”

Ratcliffe’s interest in sport is wide-reaching and he has enjoyed success elsewhere,

Currently, Ratcliffe owns the French Ligue 1 side OGC Nice. They currently find themselves in mid-table and look unlikely to be threatened by relegation.

Owning a club like United compared to Nice is an altogether different challenge that Ratcliffe and his team will have to overcome. But, if OGC Nice president Jean-Pierre Rivere’s words are anything to go by, Reds fans have no reason to be concerned.

The big difference with other sports is financial fair play. At Nice, we have very few receipts, we aren’t Marseille or Lyon or Paris [Saint-Germain].

“We have to make the club grow. We can’t invest all the money that we would wish.

“I don’t know if Jim will buy Manchester United, but if Nice is the second club after Manchester United, I don’t have any problem with that.
