Manchester United have been told that they “need” Harry Kane, who can be their own version of Erling Haaland for boss Erik ten Hag according to former Liverpool striker Dean Saunders. The Red Devils are yet to replace Cristiano Ronaldo after the 37-year-old had his contract terminated by the club last month, and could dip into the transfer market in order to bolster their forward options
Anthony Martial started up front and scored in United’s 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest in their first Premier League game back after the World Cup break, but ex-Liverpool forward Saunders believes that Ten Hag will want another striker added to his options.
The Welshman named Kane and Robert Lewandowski as the two players that can be relied upon to score 20 goals a season, and urged United to bid £150million for the Tottenham star. “Just the focal point down the middle [United need] and someone who can get on the end of crosses and – there’s an example – they need Erling Haaland,” Saunders told talkSPORT.
“Somebody like Harry Kane, Haaland. Look at Harry Kane’s header [vs Brentford], he has missed a penalty at the World Cup, you put balls in the box for Harry Kane he will get 20 goals a season every season.
