Jude Bellingham rejecting massive Man Utd offer sends message to Liverpool and Man City

Jude Bellingham has the luxury of being able to decide on his next club if and when he leaves Borussia Dortmund ahead of his expected summer departure, but Liverpool and Manchester City will have to be wary of disappointment. Only three years ago, it was Manchester United who were chasing the England starlet, only to be snubbed in favour of a move to Germany despite tabling a huge contract offer.

The 19-year-old has become one of the world’s most sought-after talents after developing into a world-class midfielder with Dortmund, having joined the Bundesliga outfit in January 2020 for £25m from Birmingham City. He is a regular starter for England and impressed alongside Declan Rice in their midfield partnership at the World Cup in Qatar.

It is widely known that Bellingham is keen to move to a bigger club with Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, PSG and Real Madrid all desperate to claim his signature on the dotted line. Bellingham will no doubt receive a huge pay rise in the process if he pens a long-term deal, with some reports of a £300,000-a-week contract offer.

But the teenager has already shown that he is not motivated by money and that the sporting project will be key to deciding his future – as he did when turning down United three years ago. Having watched Bellingham ease into senior football in the Championship when he was just 16 years of age, United, along with Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea, showed strong interest in taking him to the top-flight.
