‘Exceptional’ – Liverpool FC boss Jurgen Klopp delivers glowing Manchester United verdict

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has admitted that Manchester United are so far enjoying an ‘exceptional season’ in their debut campaign under Erik ten Hag, highlighting the size of the battle to secure Champions League qualification.

United moved to within a point of the coveted top-four places with a comfortable 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford on Tuesday night, ensuring that they restarted their Premier League campaign in positive fashion. Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Fred all scored to register a third league win in their last four outings.

Victory for United at Molineux would lift them into the top four for New Year, with Tottenham Hotspur not in action until New Year’s Day afternoon, hosting Aston Villa. The battle for a Champions League place is proving widely contested this season, the most it has been in several years, and Klopp has given United credit where it’s due, as well as recognising the efforts of current table-toppers Arsenal.
