Diogo Dalot returns to Manchester United training ahead of Wolves fixture

Diogo Dalot has returned to training at Carrington after recovering from a hamstring injury he picked up while on World Cup duty with Portugal.

Dalot sustained the injury in Portugal’s quarter-final defeat to Morocco and he has missed Manchester United’s two fixtures since the domestic schedule returned.

The 23-year-old was absent for the Carabao Cup win against Burnley and the Premier League success against Nottingham Forest, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka standing in for both games

Dalot’s return to training could put him in contention to be in the squad to face Wolves at Molineux in the early kick-off on Saturday, although Erik ten Hag has been happy with Wan-Bissaka’s contribution, with the £45million signing playing just four minutes in the first stage of the season.

“First, you have to be on the pitch and in the first half of the season he was either injured or ill, so you don’t have a role in the squad,” Ten Hag said

“I think the break was good for him, he returned, he was in the training camp in Spain, he could play some games in preparation for the restart. Now he played two games and is doing really well, so I’m happy with his performance. We need that competition in the squad.
