Antonio Conte says Harry Kane has “Tottenham in his heart” despite his long-term future at the club being in the balance amid Manchester United transfer interest.
The superstar netted his 266th Spurs goal in Monday’s 1-0 win away at Fulham to draw level with club icon Jimmy Greaves in the all-time goals record. He is also now one away from 200 Premier League goals.
The Manchester Evening News recently revealed that United are tracking the situation of Kane, who has 18 months left on his deal. The attacker, who will turn 30 in July, is yet to win a trophy and could consider his options at the end of the season amid Tottenham’s frustrating league campaign.
United are set to search for a new marquee striker in the summer and Kane is one of the target options on the table. However, Conte – once linked with the United job – does not seem to be worried by talk of his star player’s possible exit and said he is hoping they can end his wait for silverware together at the club he “loves”.
Speaking after the win over Fulham, the Spurs boss said: “We are talking about a player that has a fantastic ability and good experience. For sure, I would like to help him and his teammates to do something important, to win something with Tottenham because he loves Tottenham in his heart.
