Our predicted MUFC XI for the game vs Bournemouth is now in.
Manchester United had themselves an excellent start to the New Year, with the Red Devils gaining ground on some competitors over the course of the last gameweek. A victory over Wolves kicked things off. Before other results went in United’s favour.
The games come thick and fast at this time of year, with a match against AFC Bournemouth next upon the agenda. Typically, these are matches you’d expect United to win if they’re serious about finishing inside the top four – though this will not be an easy fixture.
Erik ten Hag will have to guard against complacency, with this United squad on a bit of a hot streak right now. They still have to go out there and get the job done.
With practically a fully fit squad to choose from, Ten Hag does have some selection headaches to make – boosted by the return to training of both Diogo Dalot and Lisandro Martinez.
David de Gea is an easy pick to make here, particularly with Martin Dubravka no longer at the club. He’s back at Newcastle.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka has done enough to keep his place in the team after some good performances. It’d be cruel to bench him now. Luke Shaw returns to a more familiar left-back role here. Lisandro Martinez is back fit, partnering Raphael Varane at the heart of defence.
Casemiro has been a game-changer for United, so he’s a guarantee to start here. Christian Eriksen also plays in that deep-lying midfield role. Bruno Fernandes completes the midfield trio.
Anthony Martial was disappointing last time out but he has to play here. To his right and left respectively is Antony and Marcus Rashford. This front three has to start showing consistency if United are serious about winning trophies.
